A Typical Day at Natures Path

The schedule for your child's day at camp

  • Sign-in and Morning Greetings:

As the day begins, children are warmly welcomed into the classroom by our educators. Each child participates in the sign-in process, where they practice writing their name with the assistance of a parent or guardian and unpack their belongings. This activity fosters independence and a sense of belonging as they take ownership of their day.

  • Outdoor choice

Following sign-in, children engage in a period of free exploration. Our learning environment is carefully curated with a variety of materials and resources that spark curiosity and movement. From loose parts to natural large motor obstacles, the children have the freedom to choose activities that align with their interests and developmental needs.

  • Large Group Time:

Gathered together as a community, children participate in large group activities led by our educators. This time may include interactive storytelling, group games, music and movement, or discussions about upcoming learning experiences. Large group time promotes social interaction, communication skills, and a sense of belonging within the group.

  • Exploration of the Beyond:

The Beyond is the natural space outside of the Center and its contained outdoor play areas. The Beyond is a place to explore. It may mean a short or long hike. It might mean finding bugs in their homes or birds in the trees. It might mean finding our favorite spot of moss under our favorite tree to sit and read or draw. This part of the day incites wonder and new discoveries to be talked about, expand our learning, and used in imaginative play once our group returns to our home center.

  • Snack

Gathering together once again, children enjoy a nutritious snack while engaging in conversation and sharing highlights from their day. This communal snack time fosters social skills, cooperation, and healthy eating habits as children connect with their peers and educators in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

  • Choice time

After structured learning activities, children have ample time for extended free play. This unstructured time allows children to follow their imaginations, engage in cooperative play with peers, and further explore the materials and resources available in the classroom. Extended free play encourages creativity, problem-solving, and social-emotional development in a relaxed and supportive environment.

  • Small group time

Next, children transition into smaller, more focused learning groups. Led by our educators, these small group sessions provide opportunities for hands-on exploration, guided learning experiences, and individualized instruction tailored to each child's needs and interests. Whether it's a science experiment, a math activity, or a literacy game, small group time promotes deeper engagement and personalized learning.

  • Reflection:

Before departure, children have an opportunity for reflection, sharing their favorite moments of discoveries and questions from the day with their peers and educators.

  • Dismissal:

As the class day comes to a close, children participate in the pack-up routine, where they assist in tidying the classroom and organizing materials for the next day. This activity promotes responsibility and organization skills while fostering a sense of ownership and respect for the learning environment. With hearts and minds enriched by a day of exploration, learning, and fun, children bid farewell to their friends and educators as they prepare to embark on their next adventure.
